Two top-cited articles in regenerative endodontics and dental pulp tissue engineering

Updated: Apr 28

The Journal of Endodontics has unveiled its highly anticipated compilation of the top 100 papers in regenerative endodontics in the publication Top-cited Articles in Regenerative Endodontics: A Bibliometric Analysis (J Endod.2018 Nov;44(11):1650-1664). The work showcases pivotal contributions to the field. Among the distinguished authors, Dr. Rosa proudly secured two coveted spots on this prestigious list. The papers Dental Pulp Tissue Engineering in Full-length Human Root Canals (J Dent Res 2013;92:970–975) and Regenerative endodontics in light of the stem cell paradigm (Int Dent J 2011;61:23–28). were ranked at 26th and 98th place, respectively.

The works outline strategies to promote dental pulp regeneration using stem cells from permanent or deciduous teeth, suggesting potential for completing root formation in necrotic immature permanent teeth.

The paper Dental Pulp Tissue Engineering in Full-length Human Root Canals (J Dent Res 2013;92:970–975) demonstrates that SHED injected into full-length human root canals differentiate into functional odontoblasts, and suggests that such a strategy might facilitate the completion of root formation in necrotic immature permanent teeth.
